Posted - 07/01/2009 : 00:35:35 Dave, thanks for the hubcap it looks great! But now another problem erupted. After putting on the hubcap I noticed the car was sitting a little low on the rear corner. Upon further inspection I discovered that one of the rear axle control arm mounts had totally rotted away leaving the axle basically unattached on one side. Well this sure explains while on the last drive out I had the steering wheel turned left at about the 10 o'clock position just to keep the car straight. It looks pretty bad right now but I'm hoping I'll be able to keep the old Buick away from the car crusher for at least another month.

Posted - 06/25/2009 : 21:09:30 I saw a similar situation happen at CFR last weekend, and that is exactly what they did Tony. They backed the racer up, and the racer was directed to re-stage the car. |

Posted - 06/25/2009 : 16:01:11 Sounds like a bad situation for sure, in which you should have been backed off and made to restage. I don't go to the wood until the button has been released, but after a few seconds my focus would definitely go from "hit the bulb" to "WTF???"
I am, however, interested in hearing what an appropriate "remedy" would be.

Posted - 06/25/2009 : 14:40:04 Last race at the Rock I ran into a little "Auto Start" issue. In a Super Pro race after we both staged I went to the mat and waited and waited for the top bulb, well the tree never started. I finally got off the throttle in fear of blowing up the converter. After a total of about 12-15 seconds the tree was activated. I obviously missed it, the first bulb that is, I nailed the second one though. My opponent luckily was bottom bulbing and was able to catch that bulb. I thought a re-run was in order but the Track official saw it differently figuring both drivers had to deal with the looooooong tree, so in his opinion it was a fair race. Well I just recently received the explanation of what happened. Apparently the "starter" needed a bathroom break and left the starting line before we staged. This left the job of flipping the switch to someone else who evidently was not prepared for switch flipping. Well eventually the "bulb" went off in the "alternate starters" head. "Why hasn't the tree started." "Opps forgot to flip the switch" Good Luck!

Posted - 06/25/2009 : 13:55:58 Joe, What are these timing problems you are talking about? |
FastnFurious |
Posted - 06/24/2009 : 22:37:26 Don't know if I'll be going to the Rock because I don't think they were able to fix their starting line timing problems yet. I called last week to enquire about it, but only got their voice mail. I left a message but evidently they are much too busy to return my call.

Posted - 05/11/2009 : 22:16:01 Well Joe, to get it to fit I would have to either change that one wheel to a 15" or heavily modify the hubcap. Looks like I'll be returning it. It really would have looked nice on there.
