70 Boys I remember you were not going to go to Denver last time. Wait until the final points are in print
Donnie I agree about the gamblers race. But I also remember the year that the Track manager got married on the starting line, and had the private reception right under our nose. By the way they stopped the gambler race after the fourth round.
I will still be going, and so should all of you so called Bracket racers.

Posted - 05/30/2008 : 23:48:59 Now if a few of yall just switched to motorcycles, you could jump in with Mike Voss and split gas 6 ways to Denver.
Travis i don't know if you have been to Denver, but in the 12 times or so i have been there i always come away believing it is the best racetrack in Division 5. You can't beat racing there, and they seem to always run a huge gamblers race at both the ET Finals and the NHRA Divisionals.
If they have stopped giving out Gold Cards to the ROC winners it is probably because of the number of them now given out at the end of the year. ET Finals winners, LODRS sportsman champions, Shootout Champions, and at some point i think the track operators say enough already.
I think the count for the ET Finals will be down, but the Minnesota Motorcycles sound like they all will be going and hopefully one of our locals will bring it home again.

Posted - 05/29/2008 : 16:34:39 I have to agree with you Andy, but we both might be a little biased after last year! Topeka is a nice track, and about the most centrally located "decent" track there is I think. Even throwing my car into somebody elses trailer and splitting fuel 3 ways is still going to be tough going to denver. I'm thinking I'm going to have to pass this year |
| andyschmall |
Posted - 05/29/2008 : 15:42:42 I think that Topeka is much better. There are many asphalt parking spots and it is the same distance from Minnesota and Colorado. Not to mention it's a national event track. |

Posted - 05/29/2008 : 11:04:01 Personally---I think it should be held at Tri-State every year...that's about the most central track that can hold a large car count.
Nothing against Denver, but who wants to go there and run .50-.90 slower than at a sea level track. And that's with changing gears, converter and timing.

Posted - 05/29/2008 : 10:36:25 There's no way we can afford to go this year with these current gas prices. Denver was a beautiful track and I was there the last time around for the ET Finals. It cost me a fortune in gas and we blew an exhaust manifold on the motorhome. I think I'll have to pass this year even though I would have loved to go. Good luck to the rest of you who make the journey.
Question : Why dont they give away gold cards anymore to the "Race Of Champions" victors during the ET Finals ?

Posted - 05/29/2008 : 09:15:56 Given NHRA's track record for accommodating the little guy, that shouldn't be a problem.
In the past you could at least enter both gamblers with one car, but somebody had to go and screw that one up!

Posted - 05/29/2008 : 08:23:54 With current fuel prices, is there anyone who is planning on making the trip to Denver for the ET finals? For me at 12MPG, it would cost me over $800 just for diesel to make the round trip. Even a runner up finish wouldn't cover the expense to go there. I would consider going if I could enter both Pro and Super Pro with the same car. I think we need to lobby or track managers to open up double entries to help get the car count up. |

Posted - 05/06/2008 : 22:39:15 Gasguru1 predicts we will be lucky to find gasoline below $3.69 after the Brainerd race. And perhaps $3.99 by Memorial Day. OUCH |
