Posted - 04/22/2008 : 08:25:54 Big Block Shawns runner ups were not the major story of his weekend. On Saturday for test day, he was testing his car on a 150 shot of NOS to get ready to compete at the pump gas drags in May. On his first pass he went through the traps @ 145mph. During that pass, the clip that holds the pin that connects the brake pedal to the master cylinder push rod come off and the pin fell out. When he went to step on the brakes, the pedal was flat on the floor! This started the first round of effenheimers. He then reached for the chute lever and then realized he had the safety pin in the chute release. More effenheimers!!! He swerved back and forth to scrub off some MPH and downshifted nearly sending the car out of control. He was still going way to fast and the pearock birm was approaching very fast. More effenhiemers!!! At the last moment where the guardrail ended, he made a hard right to avoid the birm and a certain crash. The car turned and went into the grass and headed for a bunch of large pine trees. As he turned the car, it went up on the left side tires doing a Joey Chittwood balancing act. He continued to turn as there were large trees ahead. He was able to thread through the trees running over a 6 foot pine tree that ripped off his front valence. The car finally came to a stop after doing a 180 on two wheels threading between the large trees facing towards the starting line.
If that wasn't enough, the next pass he made, he stood the car up on the back bumper in a giant wheelstand. When the car came down it bent a few things under the front end. He straightened out what he could and went on to race on Sunday making it to the 4 finals. That's one hellava weekend! |

Posted - 04/21/2008 : 12:03:43 I wasn't there, but I know that:
No Gizmo Gambler - ???? over Big Block Shawn
High-Noon Showdown - ???? over Big Block Shawn
Pro - Andy Schmall over Big Block Shawn
Super Pro - Jesse Leonard over Big Block Shawn
Runoff - Jesse Leonard over Andy Schmall
No idea on car count but the High-Noon Showdown was only 4 rounds = between 8 and 16 cars. OUCH!

Posted - 04/18/2008 : 14:54:09 Looks like Saturday there is a 50% chance of rain for the test day but Sundays forecast is to be sunny and 71 degrees. Better bring some sunblock!! I won't be there Saturday (maybe Saturday night). I'll try to get my car dialed in during the gamblers races on Sunday. It should run a little quicker this year. |

Posted - 04/18/2008 : 13:54:56 Looks like you folks might get a little wet this weekend at the Rock.
Good luck to all that go! May you all cut .00's and run dead-on!
See ya in Staging!!! |

Posted - 04/18/2008 : 09:37:06 Good luck getting the I-card working locally. They haven't even turned it on for a single national or divisional race yet this season.
Crew Chief 7 is pretty bad-azz though, as if you needed more help.

Posted - 04/17/2008 : 22:34:24 It's all set up!! New Crew Chief Pro 7.0 software with I-card WI FI and W-card (watch card) WI FI that integrates with the new Terminator button. Now if I can talk Jennifer into getting the I-card transmitter I could have my log book all automatically recorded by the time I pick up my time slip. |
