Posted - 08/11/2008 : 12:51:15 So---how was your BIR Nationals Experience??? It was nice to see some Minnesota boys & girls do well this weekend!
I heard there were quite a few upset spectators that bought General Admission tickets...only to find out, they needed to drop some more $$$ to actually get a "seat!" Duh---I thought General Admission was a seat............
Anyone else have any good stories...even the famous ZOO related would be fine...

Posted - 08/12/2008 : 11:02:19 Back in 1996, about 5 friends and I entered the event on Sunday at the gate by the ticket shack and sat in the tower-side reserved grandstand with no event passes or seat tickets. Not that security wasn't trying to find us!

How on earth did you get by BIR's Security system and sit in the RESERVED SECTION, with a GA ticket?!?! Tell me it didn't have something to do with your 'trick' watch.....hahahaha
Heck---On Friday "Professor" Zenzen, Brian and I watched a BIR Security person repremand Mrs. Force for walking in the lanes. That was priceless to see.........

Posted - 08/11/2008 : 16:26:23 What a great crowd! It's good for the track to see the place packed! I came up on Sunday and bought a GA ticket from one of the "brokers" outside the track. When I found out there were no seats for the GA ticket, I just found an empty reserved seat and sat there. The only things that needed attention are the PA system wasn't loud enough and the helicopter hovering overhead was annoying. The rest was great! Force and Beckman were great on the return road! I don't know why some of the other drivers hide on the ride back to the pits. I don't think they realize how personal racing gets when the drivers acknowledge the fans in the stands. Pro stockers should detour after they leave the scales and return in front of the north stands and then exit through the winners circle entrance. It would be great PR for them. The 1000 foot was good for me. No major oil downs sure helps speed the event along. I never went in the zoo, but everyone I talked to had a great time in there. Steve |
