Posted - 04/29/2009 : 17:10:30 In an effort to speed up the program for this year's points race, BIR has decided to drop the Jr. Dragster program for this race. I had no idea last year when I sat in the tech line for over 3 hours that it was because of the Jr.'s. I was thinking it was more of a staffing issue. The goal here may be to reduce the car count. I know I for one will be bringing 3 less cars; one of which would have been a Jr. If the car count gets low enough it should speed up their program.

Taz,
There was a definite decision made back in February to not have Juniors at the Thunder at the Lakes Divisional event. This ONLY affects the May Divisional points race and has nothing to do with the 7 BIR Bracket races or the MDRA points meets at the BIR Bracket races. And again, this is because all parties involved with the program didn’t want the public relations issue of having Junior Dragsters racing for a liquor company sponsored trophy at a liquor sponsored event.

Posted - 04/30/2009 : 11:07:58 As for long Tech lines...do yourself a favor and get the ETI inspection done. Well worth it in the long run, AND it's good at ANY NHRA track!!! I 'Believe' BIR will be doing these on Friday and Saturday at the 1st event again...

Travis, you are correct. According to NHRA; only BIR and one other track (the name escapes me) have had Jr. Dragsters at their Divisional Events and neither of us have had them at every Divisional Event. |

Posted - 04/30/2009 : 10:05:15 I don't recall seeing Jr's at many LODRS Events in the past...at least not the one's I've ran at.

Posted - 04/30/2009 : 08:49:08 At what point will there be a definate answer to the juniors racing at Points race, being Memorial Weekend and families trying to make plans.
Is the decision NHRA or the track?
Thanks |

Posted - 04/29/2009 : 21:45:03 Lee, I did say in my post that I was speaking about the May Divisional race. The date for that is May 22nd - 24th 2009.
Jordan, I will follow-up with the office staff and I apologize that the answer you received was incorrect. We have always had a great bunch of Jr. Dragster racers, many of our rising stars came from our JD program.
We will have our normal JD program integrated into our Saturday Bracket program at each of our seven Bracket weekends.
