I wish I had timed it; but it had to be 15-20 minutes from my first contact with gate personnel to the time I had my tech cards and was allowed to proceed. Some staff did not seem to have any understanding of the pit vehicle registration rules. I was also originally told one price for what I was entering, paid it, then informed that I had to pay more since the math was wrong the first time.

Got everything unloaded and went to tech. It was roughly 2 hours to get through that. There are NO other tracks that require you to get to the track a day early just to have your car teched in time to make all of your time runs. This isn't just me; everyone in the line was wondering exactly what the hell was going on. I was starting to wonder if I should get a refund for the test day that I was missing.

Apparently there is/was some confusion and discussion regarding the combined Super-class race. I was walking to the "meeting" when my lanes started moving, so I don't know what happened there. I don't even know how to feel about this one. On one hand, I think a track should make a well thought-out decision on how to run this class and stick to it. On the other hand, if a lot of racers are in disagreement it is good to see a track open to making changes that will make the class more popular. Overall I am not sure this is a complaint but is an example of the old BIR where you just don't know what you might get. I am already entered in this class so I will deal with whatever the rules are; I just hope they are clear to everyone.

Once I was through that, the on-track experience was fine.

Please note, this was written on my phone from the bar. I may regret this at some point but it is my true early impressions for interested parties watching at home.

We had a gamblers race on Saturday, we got a time trail on Sunday, and finished eliminations at a decent time. Overall I would say that the track did a pretty good job. There were a few problems but the track made a step in the right direction. There were a lot of racers that didn't know that the bracket classes didn't pay 3rd round so I'm sure there will be a lot of calls when people expecting checks don't get them.

My win lamps were burned out as well.

The Super class combo was somewhat of a fiasco but I have to blame the racers as much as anyone for that.

The gambler action on Saturday seemed to go well, and Sunday went very well IMO. With the combined Super classes and no Stock/Super Stock on Sunday, it seemed like the class rotation was much shorter and quicker. The track itself was excellent all weekend.

I showed up at roughly 9:30AM on Friday...only took me about 15 min to get thru the gate total from when I turned of HWY 371. I went through Tech---I have the ETI Tech inspection card. I HIGHLY SUGGEST ANYONE who doesn't like waiting in long tech lines get this done!!! So for me Tech inspection was in the 'fast lane' and just a routine check of safety items. In/Out 10 min tops.
I made 3 Test-n-Tune passes within .027...so I felt good with that, and loaded the car up.

Saturday they ran a Gambler's race like stated...darn near until dark from what I heard. YES---there were a few 'opening day glitches' but you will have that. The Stock/Super Stock Combo was run as advertised as well, with an average turn-out for BIR (plus 3 qualifying runs).

Sunday---well, that darn win light seemed to be burnt out in my lane. We were given a time trial in the AM---where I ran my quickest pass to date in my Chevelle---10.274 @131.11 Then I lost a close race with Myron in Rd 1 of Super Pro, and lost a Rd 2 battle with Mr. Remer in Pro.

I was pretty impressed...but perhaps it's the new Meds.

See ya in Staging!!!
