A few hundred feet of asphalt would cure lots of problems. The place is a sandbox and unfortunately nothing grows but cacti and the occasional weed in most spots.
Most of BIR isn't much better though to put it in perspective.
I'll keep racing there though because the fellow racers are good people, we all have fun, and it's close to home. Raced there for all of my racing career and will continue to do so.
I raced there this past weekend for the first time and it was a good experience. I didn't like the fact that people were pitted right on the return road but that is more the fault of the dumb people than the track.
I didn't like the sand either but as it was already stated BIR has the same problem and we aren't complaining about them building there so we do the best we can with it.
I had no traction problems at all but I am not pushing big power like most of you all (I do have traction issues at Rock Falls but 2 street tires in the trunk did help a little).
I hope they do something with the PA system as that was a little nerve wracking.
I am sure we irritated a few local racers as MDRA took almost all the wins but this is drag racing and the numbers tell the story.
I will now always have a soft spot in my heart for Grove Creek as they gave me my first Wally ever and aren't charging me a thousand bucks to send me the picture electronically!

The traction was excellent and the track was smooth as glass. Nicely done ! The night racing was long over due for me. Nothing better then racing under the lights. The dust is pretty thick on all my stuff and I agree the PA system was pretty poor where we were. It caused me not to enter multiple classes. I could barely keep up with my own class let alone two ! I need a radio set up for the trailer so I guess thats my fault too and it also means it's time to give my kid the radio project in the trailer now ! Next time Im bringing my fishing pole - The creek side had huge Northern and carp swimming around - The kids were havin a blast trying to catch them. You missed it Travis !
Overall It was pretty good experience and i would definetely go back. Just my 2 cents.
