We were all sweating this race. Not because of the points, it was hot! Air temps were well into the 90's. I put the heat gun on the roof of my car, 147 degrees. Track temp was 137 degrees.
Saterday was a long day. First we had the make-up race to finish. MDRA won first place. Jim Higgins took home the big check. To bad that race was not our points race.
The Saturday regular race and our points race started at 6:00 PM. It went well into the night. About 11:00 the last cars went down the track. MDRA members did very well reaching the quarter finals.
The pig roast and corn feed was great. Everyone at the track was welcome to come and feast. A big thanks to Mel Knot, Joe Marx, Dennis Remer & Greg Collins and all that helped.
Sunday was the MDRA fun race. We had lots of cars there and also gained a few new members. The fun race started at 10:00. We got one time run and we dialed them in. Jim Lambreacht was the winner. Mel Knot was runner-up and Andy Schmall was third.
Everybody stayed for the regular Sunday race. Heat index was 106 degrees. It was a pleasure to pack up, get in the truck and put the air on high.
As usual the crew at Cedar Falls bent over backwords for us. A big thanks to Mike and Cindy. They not only helped put on all the racing but they pitched in with the pig roast.
