Posted - 05/06/2008 : 16:07:54 I think it would work better if the payout was structured more like the Byron "US Bracket Nationals" but you still can't pay $5000 to win a class with only 40 people in it. |

Posted - 05/06/2008 : 13:51:51 Thanks for all your hard work and answering our questions promptly. This year will be a 'work in progress' for all involved.
Again---that's because there was a National Event in Topeka, KS (with Class Eliminations). There were still over 40 S/SS cars paying $250. On top of the 170+ Bracket cars. It WOULD HAVE WORKED---just on another weekend.

Posted - 05/06/2008 : 13:40:32 Until this year I have not been involved with the perticulars with reguard to bracket races. I did find out the rain out policy of 50% was fairly new and not posted or used until the last drag??. This is my last policy change for the year but you either: get your next race free (can cary over to next year), or 70% cash back. The change will be posted later today. Bob is working on a pro-rated payout for short classes and will have it Friday. He will be here Wednesday for the street legal drags and we will be getting him into his email then. It will then be posted on our website. I have the new points structure and we will review it on Wed and post shorly thereafter.
Note: The second double race is contingent on the first double being finished on time.
Payout is set for the year. The higher payout may have been at the Thunder event in 04 but a 5K purse did not get many more cars.
Hope to see you here!

Posted - 05/06/2008 : 10:32:23 You are still encouraging racers to wait as long as possible before purchasing a tech card. A bracket competitor loses $24 for each day that is completely rained out. On a 2-day race weekend, you would be an idiot to buy Sunday's tech card when you come in the gate. So now you put more burden on the staff selling tech cards that needs to deal with everyone multiple times.
If your class makes zero runs in a day, you should be refunded or credited in-full.

Posted - 05/05/2008 : 22:46:50 Boy...I've been around BIR for a lot of years, I don't ever remember a higher pay out for Stock/Super Stock (that wasn't a USA Event) or a 'special' race like "Thunder at the Lakes"/"BIR 5000". And those races WOULD HAVE worked if they weren't held on the same weekend as a National Event at Topeka.
I've only been running Super Stock for 3 years now, and BIR has had the same payout for those years...I don't recall it being a lot different in years past. At least since the entry fee was 'bumped' up to $110.

Posted - 05/05/2008 : 20:53:10 when was it last attempted? 2000? 2001? |

Posted - 05/05/2008 : 19:06:57 Travis, A higher payout for stock/super stock was attempted before and did not yield many more cars. |

Posted - 05/05/2008 : 19:04:38 New rain out policy! Looking at the farmers almanac I am preying for sunny drag race dates. Fire away...

I will try and get a pro-rated payout for classes short of a full field as soon as I can.

Posted - 04/28/2008 : 14:01:18 I BELIEVE it was $500 Win/$250 R-U, $125 Semis, $75 qtrs last year.
Hopefully Jed will jump on here, because we RARELY have 32 S/SS cars at BIR...for several reasons. One, there are not that many in the state of MN, two---PAYOUT.

Posted - 04/28/2008 : 12:36:49 Ron here, I'll second that. Lets see the payout for 31 cars and down, before we go to the race!! |

Posted - 04/28/2008 : 12:12:26 so even in the super classes if we don't reach 32 cars, lets say 31, the track still makes a killing off of our entry fee, why don't they post the pay out less 32 cars and see how small that is compaired to 32! |

Posted - 04/28/2008 : 09:42:36 I have never raced Bracket 3 but the structure of it has bothered me for at least 10 years. I like that there is a class for the slower cars to race in or for people to get their feet wet bracket racing. But they just can't pay the same entry as the other bracket classes. That class should be about $35 to enter. Of course, that can't happen because even the trophy cars pay more than that!

Don't forget the Trophy (Comp and Street...$45) along with the Jr. Dragsters ($30). All of which pay an entry fee, but only race for a Trophy! Finally add in Test-n-Tune ($55...no payout), Jr. Test-n-Tune ($25...no payout) and Crew ($30). Then if you REALLY want to have a brain aneurysm...throw in the $275/$200 Pro-Pad fee.
I've done the math as well---and take it from me, you will just end up in Internet Racer Forum Rehab in the room next to me if you try to figure out BIR's structure.
BTW---the payout for the Super Classes is cut in half if there is less than 32 cars. Thank goodness for organizations like the USA (United Sportsman's Association) that put money from the club into the track payout (if your a member), so we can actually get a decent payout. As well as the MDRA (Major Reason to Join)in the fact that these clubs add money to the tracks payout!!!
