BIR RAIN POLICY - Are you kidding me, after all the discussion this is what you come up with - 50% credit for not running a race. Please tell me this is a mistake. This would definitely be the worse rain policy of any dragstrip I've ever raced at.

Anyone with some time want to research the tracks listed in the topics page and post their policies? Every one else keep the policies honest . I do not want the worst policy of the group, with RFR policy it will not be the best however.

I know for myself and my family being on a very tight budget as all you are, I will be looking at the forecast very carefully,But on the other hand I know we have to support BIR. Example: Pull in Friday Night for me S/ST,BRK,JR.entry fees for Sat/Sun 410.00 rains out I lose $205.00, Sunday alone I lose $100.00. Yikes!! Lets hope this can change. |

Wow fellow racers - That rain policy seems pretty harsh.
As an added note : Racers who run multiple classes and provide multiple support to the track will also get penalized multiple times on this rain out policy.
Gotta throw us a bone here.

| I have not forgotten this subject. The rain policy posted is the same from last year and we had not removed or changed it yet. If you look in the post where I asked about other tracks policies you would notice I said I would make my decision the beginning of May. It is still snowy April and I should have had our web master put coming soon on the policy. I have been talking with Bob about this subject and think we are close to a decision. The plan on the table is to do everything we can to finish the race and prey for nice weather for the double races. BIR used to finish races on Fridays and Saturdays of the next races and that is likely what we will try and do. With this the only rain out would be the last race and if rained out would get a credit minus handling fee for the first race of next season. In 2009 we have a surplus of drag weekends and this would allow a couple weekends throughout the season to be held just for make up races. I thank you for choosing BIR as a place to race and I want to make it fair but the same has to go for the track as well. Look for the new policy in a few days. |

The decision for all single races for juniors is to get them plenty of time trials on Saturday, 1 TT and race on Sunday. The kids need/want passes.
Bracket 3 is usually half the car count of 1 & 2 thus the payout.
Stock/Super stock - there was an attempt to throw money at this class before and it did not produce the cars. I am under the impression I would have to loose money to fill the field and that is not business.
Other than the rain out policy this will be the details for the season and I will be working with Bob to try and develop the best program we can have at BIR going forward in years to come.

To go back to the payouts... I figured out how much money the track pays back to the racers in each class and here are the results....
Bracket 1/2 Minimum 85 cars Entry Fees: $6800 Total Payout: $3450 Percent Paid Out: 50%
Bracket 3 Minimum 40 cars Entry Fees: $3200 Total Payout: $1350 Percent Paid Out: 42%
Super Classes Minimum 32 cars Entry Fees: $3520 Total Payout: $2500 Percent Paid Out: 71%
It looks like, using the bracket 1 and 2 payout as a base, that the Bracket 3 cars are getting the short end of the stick and the classes that we should be racing are the super classes. In Bracket 3, if the entry fee was lowered to $65, it would payout 52%.
Now I am not sure how you construct your payouts. Whether it is by the amount of money a class makes or the percent but it seems unfair for the super classes to be getting 71% of the entries paid back when bracket 3 only gets back 42%.
Now after looking at this... I do realize that with the $110 entry, that percent drops pretty fast as the car count goes up compared to other classes. What is the payout if there are under 32 cars??
Just throwing that out there..... |

| I'd like for you to show me another track anywhere in the whole Country where the entry is $80(thats hard enough to find) and you only get $35 for third round and $500 to win. After you give up, ask your self why there are only 40 cars. |

Andy---
Don't forget the Trophy (Comp and Street...$45) along with the Jr. Dragsters ($30). All of which pay an entry fee, but only race for a Trophy! Finally add in Test-n-Tune ($55...no payout), Jr. Test-n-Tune ($25...no payout) and Crew ($30). Then if you REALLY want to have a brain aneurysm...throw in the $275/$200 Pro-Pad fee.
I've done the math as well---and take it from me, you will just end up in Internet Racer Forum Rehab in the room next to me if you try to figure out BIR's structure.
BTW---the payout for the Super Classes is cut in half if there is less than 32 cars. Thank goodness for organizations like the USA (United Sportsman's Association) that put money from the club into the track payout (if your a member), so we can actually get a decent payout. As well as the MDRA (Major Reason to Join)in the fact that these clubs add money to the tracks payout!!!

I have never raced Bracket 3 but the structure of it has bothered me for at least 10 years. I like that there is a class for the slower cars to race in or for people to get their feet wet bracket racing. But they just can't pay the same entry as the other bracket classes. That class should be about $35 to enter. Of course, that can't happen because even the trophy cars pay more than that!

| so even in the super classes if we don't reach 32 cars, lets say 31, the track still makes a killing off of our entry fee, why don't they post the pay out less 32 cars and see how small that is compaired to 32! |

Ron here, I'll second that. Lets see the payout for 31 cars and down, before we go to the race!! |

I BELIEVE it was $500 Win/$250 R-U, $125 Semis, $75 qtrs last year.
Hopefully Jed will jump on here, because we RARELY have 32 S/SS cars at BIR...for several reasons. One, there are not that many in the state of MN, two---PAYOUT.

New rain out policy! Looking at the farmers almanac I am preying for sunny drag race dates. Fire away...
http://www.brainerdraceway.com/bracket/rules_08.html
I will try and get a pro-rated payout for classes short of a full field as soon as I can.

| Travis, A higher payout for stock/super stock was attempted before and did not yield many more cars. |
