Here is a copy of an email Rick sent out this AM...
Hey Racers and Race Fans!
Hope you all had a Happy Father's Day!! Are ya ready to go racing?? Well . . . not quite yet. The last of the asphalt was just laid down today, and after quite a bit of thought, we feel it best to let it cure for awhile. She's a little soft right now! So, we have to cancel this upcoming scheduled race weekend of June 20 - 22. The Jr Challenge will be rescheduled for a later date to be announced soon.
The projected opener will be the 4th of July Weekend!!! Please watch the website for more updates and progress at http://www.grovecreek.com/renovations.htm. Again, we are sorry for the delay, but the wait will be worth it! We are looking forward to seeing you all again and getting back into the groove of drag racing (not the construction business)!! Rick & Susie Words of some sort: Kindness makes a fellow feel good whether it's being done to him or by him..

Travis I think if the track does open on the 4th, the place is going to be packed! It should be a good show with three races on a nice long holiday weekend. I hope to make it down for it whether I get to race or just help some friends.

The place should be PACKED!!! Nice, new customer service orientated track...the Fireworks on the 5th of July after the night race. BTW---the ONLY Track in MN where you can drag race at night! A Gambler's race every day along with the regular track program. Not to mention, when you win money---they pay you at the track! Heck, I think there might even be fish in the creek for me to try and catch between rounds!!!
Big Ron working Tech/Security/Starting line...nobody can get by Big Ron. Hope Rick has hired a CPA and invested in a new safe---'cus he's going to need it, hauling in the cash once the Creek is open!
My only concern is what is the Pit situation. Wonder if Rick could post some updated pics of the pit area for the racers to see. Will the NEW Grove Creek be able to hold over 200 cars---how about several large stacker style rigs??? Now that the dirt track is leveled---is there grass growing in that area?

Has anybody thought about maybe renting the track on Thursday before the 4th. I'm gone too much to be able to organize it but if someone were to rent the track I would be interested in coming out and pay a share of it.

The Jr. Challenge was to be this weekend. I know it is going to be rescheduled, just not sure when. Just keep watching the Grove Creek web site for updates/details.

Travis, if all goes according to plan I should have my car done this week. Then off to the Rock next weekend. Then to the Creek for the 4th weekend. I changed so much stuff on the car I need all the seat time I can get. Probably won't have my hired gun in the car until Aug. at CFR. But when he drives I will also drive and we will be double entered. When we get to that point it should look like a firedrill all the time. I just wonder if it will be fun to do it that way. I guess we will find out.

Well, speaking from experience. It is very difficult to have two drivers in one car especially at Cedar Falls because they only have 5 classes with not very many cars. The biggest part is being ready in the staging lanes with the helmet and jacket, and have the car somewhat cool. The first weekend will probably be stressful but once you get the routine down it goes somewhat smoothly. Controlled chaos. Haha

Andy, thanks for the headsup on that. Steve and I talked about it last night and he agrees with you. The plan for right now is for him to get some seat time Friday nite and then make a decision on what to do on the weekend. That is if I ever get the car done and it runs ok.

That is the biggest reason we switched to alcohol back in 2000. We could probably make back-to-back runs at the same water temp without shutting the car off.
It can get hectic but that makes it fun!
