Who woulda thought the clean-tree crowd would be bunched together at the top of the Super Combo standings?
What a fiasco that meeting at the first race was.

It looks like they only counted 5 out of 6 races and 1 rainout. Tony would you think they would count 6 out of 6 when they posted 6 out of 7 would be counted?

Yes, I would assume that six races would be counted for points if that was the original statement. If the full schedule of 7 races were run, that would afford everyone the luxury of a "throwaway" event.

After hearing excessive complaints from fellow racers about BIR's final points calculations I have decided to voice an opinion. Well I've thought this over and compared the end result with how MDRA points would have been calculated. MDRA points are based on the best 5 of 8 races. Let's say we had 3 rained out events thus all 5 races would have counted. With that said BIR can calculate them anyway they see fit but it does seem unfair the way final season points were posted without a clear understanding to all paid competitors running for points prior to the start of the season if a rainout occured.I would have thought even though the last race was rained out each competitor entered for that last weekend could have possibly received entry points resulting in a best 6 of 7 races. The best 6 out of 7 to me means your best 6 not 5. That's just how I read it and understand it from the points area on the BIR web site. The points didn't effect me either way. Season championships were on the line and racers deserve a clearer explanation of the rules prior to the season opener and these types of situations could be avoided. Just my 2 cents. Dave Engler |

Dave,I couldn't agree with you more,I usually don't answer on these kind of post, but I feel an importance this time to add my 2 cents, then we'll have 4 cents, and eventually if enough racers speak up it will finally make sense, you are 100% right on how MDRA would handle Rain Outs as far as points go,to show this is normal I will give an example of what happened at another track this year,(2009)Rock Falls Raceway posted with its schedule,Best 7 of 9,,,the 1st race was rained out, then it was still the best 7 of the next remaining 8,BIR needs to be more consistent with the norm on issues like this,I live in a black&white world, and sometimes Yellow&Blue is nice too! Just My 2 Cents. Joe Marx |

I spoke with Bill Johnson from BIR on this issue. The season was always touted as a "best of" series and was scheduled with 7 races. 1 race got cancelled so it became best of 6 races. If I had the option to skip a race early in the season for whatever reason I would be comforted by the fact that in counting points my worst race would be thrown out. Then, with the last race being rained out I would be pissed off if they did anything "other" than cancel it for points completely. So you see, this could go either way but what they did makes sense to me and had the least impact though it did impact a couple racers negatively. Keep in mind 5 of 8 or 7 of 9 is very different from 6 of 7 races. I do believe the season was advertised by BIR as a best 6 of 7 races.
They did post a response on their website, http://www.brainerdraceway.com/drag-racing/brackets/points-standings.html

The question is though "When" was this link posted ? I actually read this paragraph yesterday but didn't recall seeing it anytime during the racing season.

If they say they are going to count 6 races, they should count 6 races, bottom line. I don't think they ever said they would only count 5 races if one got rained out... |

Probably will not make any difference now because the next time you call up there all the employees will be layed off for the year....

For the 2010 season BIR will NOT do a best of series for points but rather count ALL races.
