Who the hell came up with this schedule?!?!? It looks as if it should be called the RFR race series (Wait---they have that)!!! OR Packer Backer Series!

The schedule is the same for Bracket I, Bracket II, Jr. Dragster, Money Bike, and Trophy.

May 18 Rock Falls
June 15 Rock Falls
June 21& 22 Cedar Falls (2 races 2 days)
July 19 & 20 BIR (2 races 2 days)
Aug. 3 Rock Falls
Aug. 24 Rock Falls

May 16-18 (Division 5 National Open) in Cedar Falls
June 20-22 (IHRA Divisional) Byron
August 1-3 (Division 5 Event) Cordova
August 22-24 (Division 5 Event) Topeka

Guess I'll just join for the SPORTSMAN class...IF I join at all now!

The MDRA Board formed the schedule based on the results of the track surveys among other factors. If you did not join or vote what the HELL are you complaining about. Keep in mind the board members volunteer for these positions and dedicate many hours of their time keeping the organization alive. Travis your welcome to join the board or attend the MDRA meetings anytime (the second Monday of every month). This is a bracket schedule so I don't understand why you are comparing it to Sportsman races held all over the Midwest. And if I understand you correctly, you're saying you're hesitant to join as a Sportsman member because of the bracket schedule?????

No Joe---what I AM saying, several Bracket Racers that are or have been MDRA members run S/ST, S/G, S/C, S/SS as well as Brackets. If the 'club' wants to grow...it's just MY OPINION that the MDRA Board would look around at the schedules.

Last year I joined for BOTH Bracket II and Sportsman. Now with this seasons Bracket schedule, the only logical/economical thing for me seems to be just join Sportsman (if anything).

I'm in it to win it---and if I can't get to AT LEAST 6-7 MDRA Bracket points races, it makes no sense $$$ wise to pony up the fee to join.

Perhaps I just need to go back to Internet Racer Forum Rehab!!!

As far as $$$ wise it doesn't make much sense NOT to join if you are going to go to half the races. It seems to be almost impossible not to get at least your $45 bucks back with all the programs in place.

There are just too many events going on to worry about class racer events for a bracket points schedule. When I ran stock there was enough races to go to that I didn't have 8 extra weekends to fit a MDRA schedule in if I tried.

Steve---I agree, but with that schedule I AM only going to 1 MDRA Bracket Event. And I DO UNDERSTAND that this schedule probably only affects ME as I race both Bracket and Super Stock.

It just seems that MDRA use to stand for MidWest Dragracers---looks to me as if it's changed to Minneapolis Dragracers.........

I DO LIKE the (2) 2-day events...should of added the other BIR 2-day race, but that is just my opinion.

I'm sure MDRA will not crumble without my $45...

As for the schedule..... The reason that there are so many Rock Falls races is that it got the most votes but there's more. Byron had enough votes to get one race, but with the price of gas the board decided that it wasn't a good idea to have a race there. Grove Creek had less votes than Byron so it wasn't fair to have a race a Grove Creek and not Byron. Interstate got less votes than all of them so that left Rock Falls. This is the most cost-effective schedule that the MDRA has ever produced. You can be in all 8 races and only have to drive on 6 weekends.

As for your $45, MDRA needs all the members it can get. If MDRA has more members, they can do more things like have racer cookouts, fun races, and have more prizes at the banquets (not to mention bigger payouts). Along with helping the group, you get the opportunity to make more money by winning a race and submitting it to the MDRA All-Stars where, at the end of the year, names are drawn for $100 and $50 cash prizes. Also, if you have a perfect package at an MDRA race, you win $1000 from TNT Specialties, and if no one wins that, the 10 best submitted packages from the year win $100 each. And if you win an MDRA race you automatically win the $100 bonus bucks.

And you know.... if you join the board it doesn't cost anything to join!

Andy---I agree with almost everything you stated but the following:"Byron had enough votes to get one race, but with the price of gas the board decided that it wasn't a good idea to have a race there. Grove Creek had less votes than Byron so it wasn't fair to have a race a Grove Creek and not Byron."

If fuel/travel expenses were the reason Byron was left off the schedule (which I AGREE with, Byron is a tow)...the Creek should have been the 'alternative'...less votes or not.

I DID shoot myself in the foot with the '10 best package' MDRA deal...---as I did have a run at BIR that would have put me in the Top 10...but I neglected to send in my time slip...my bad there!!!

Not to mention---you wouldn't want me on the MDRA Board. One, I wouldn't be able to make it to any of the meetings in the Cities. Two, I'd want to change a bunch of stuff. Call me some time and I'll give you my ideas...and you can take full credit for them!!!

I would just post your ideas in the suggestion section. Any ideas to draw a crowd to the car show? Maybe a live band or bikini contest??(weather permitting)

Please do not forget that MDRA is a club to support Drag Racing. It is nice if we can do that and can race the schedule that is put togeather from the members track selections. Sometimes if that does not work out we should still feel good about supporting drag racing. When I was the Bracket Points Chairman I can remember several members that supported the club year after year just to support their pashion. I can think of one in paticular but will keep it to myself for now.

There is my 2 cents worth for now....................
